Here is what I have so far from the 1986 Topps set. This is a fairly easy set to work with, and it may be one of the next ones I work on after the sets of the ‘90’s are finished. Here is a link to the checklist of missing cards from the 1986 Topps set. As with the other sets I have posted, please feel free to comment with any errors, omissions, and links to cards I may have missed. Thanks for checking out my latest post.

I just looked through my 1986 Topps set and I am obsessed with finding out why they didn't make a Mike Witt card. Seems like such a glaring omission. This is very cool that you put this together.

ReplyDeleteI've done a little research, and found one other blog that made note of Witt missing the '86 card, and they didn't have a reason. I know a few guys during that era like Danny Jackson and Kevin McReynolds didn't sign an individual contract with Topps, so they didn't get a few cards in the '80's, so perhaps his contract was up for renewal, and he didn't sign in '86, and then was able to sign in '87.
DeleteI'll take a look at that photo and make a '86 Witt out of it.
Also no Chilli Davis card in the 86 set. He played 130+ games in 85.
ReplyDeleteYou are right. Somebody from the FB Custom Cards Group made an ‘86 Topps card of Chili, and you can find it on the ‘86 Topps set page on my site https://toppscardsthatneverwere.blogspot.com/p/1986-topps-reference-page.html
