Favorite Player Collection Part 15: 1990 Bowman 529 Steve Sharts

The latest card I've made for my Favorite Player Collection is a 1990 Bowman Steve Sharts. Steve played organized baseball from 1985-1990, never making it to the Majors. I wish Topps would've made more cards of minor leaguers back in the '80's and '90's, because I would've loved to have a few more cards of Steve. I would love to get this one autographed, but it appears he hasn't had any ttm requests, and I don't have an address to send it to. There are, however, many websites that have wrote about him. Between Sharts and Dick Pole, I think the potty humor section in my collection is coverd. I have also made a 1994 Topps Traded Update card of Sharts, as he was a replacement player for the Blue Jays in 1995 Spring Training.
Thanks for checking out my latest customs.

2001 Topps Yadier Molina/Chase Utley Draft Pick

Today's card is one of those cards that I kind of got to cherry-pick 2 good players and put them on the card. In 2001, Topps put 2 random players on draft pick cards, as they had since 1997. This practice (along with the fact that they didn't specify 'First Round Pick') will allow me to pair up some real superstars on customs draft cards from '97-'01.

Molina has been a fixture with the Cardinals for the last decade. Good enough to probably be inducted in the Cardinals Hall of Fame, and perhaps in MLBs if he puts up another 5-10 years of solid numbers. If he can get close to 2500 hits and wins a few more Gold Gloves, I think he could be a lock.

Utley has put up some good numbers in Philly until injuries hit him. After the cheap takeout slide he did in last years' playoffs, I lost a good deal of respect for him, but he had the best numbers out of the candidates I had, so I stuck him next to Molina on the card.

If you have any ideas for custom Draft Pick cards from the '97-'01 sets, or any other ideas for cards, feel free to let me know. Thanks for checking out my latest card.

1982 Topps Ryne Sandberg

A 1982 Topps Ryne Sandberg isn't a new idea. Heck, Topps even made one for their eTopps set a few years back. I decided I'd try my hand at one. I didn't realize that Ryno's first year was 1981. I figured that he debuted in 1982. That begs the question: Why didn't Topps make a card of him in 1982 or 1981? I may have to create a 1981 Topps Traded card. I will get some practice on the 1981 design, as the next card in Series 1 is a 1981 Topps Minnie Minoso.

1990 Topps Mike Schmidt All-Star

Mike Schmidt retired before the 1989 All-Star game, but fans still voted him in as a starter. Here's his 1990 Topps All-Star card (apologies to Howard Johnson).

1990 Topps Mike Schmidt

Mike Schmidt only recieved cards in 1990 from Donruss and Upper Deck. If I was running a card company back then, I would've at least thrown a tribute card into my set. I think I may do a 1990 Bowman Schmidt card in the future, but for now, here is what his 1990 Topps card may have looked like.
