Favorite Player: Andy McGaffigan

When I was in middle school or so, I was at the dentists office, and I, like always, brought a binder of baseball cards along to look at. The dental hygenist noticed, and told me that her next door neighbor was Andy McGaffigan. She told me to mail her his card, and she would get it signed for me. I had his 1990 Donruss card, so I mailed it to her, and sure enough, a few weeks later, the card came back signed and personalized. Many years later, he appeared at the Rays fan fest, and I was able to meet him in person and get him to sign some more cards.  I should've got a picture with him. Maybe someday.

Favorite Player: Quinton McCracken

Quinton McCracken was the leadoff hitter of the 1998 Tampa Bay Devil Rays team, the first year they played in MLB. Quinton was a speedster, who would've been a star in my opinion, but never got the chance. He was a 2-sport star at Duke, playing football and baseball, and went from being drafted by the Rockies in 1992 to making his MLB debut in 1995. He hit .292 with 7 Home Runs and 59 RBIs in 1998 after being drafted by the Rays, and was named their first ever MVP. He missed most of '99 with a torn ACL, and then they kept him in the minors for most of 2000. He could've been a nice player if they gave him some at-bats. Quinton stuck around the Majors until 2005, and retired following the 2007 season. He worked for a few teams in the front office after he retired, most recently with the Houston Astros, winning a World Series with them last year. In 2019, he became a coach with Durham, and that makes my chances of meeting him a little better, as he has a chance of perhaps moving around and getting in a league with cities closet to me.

Favorite Player: Joe Mather

Joe Mather was a big part of my brother-in-law JT and my baseball world in the late '00's. JT saw Joe play in a high-school home-run derby, and was able to get his bat that he broke. I saw Joe a few times in the minors with Palm Beach of the Florida State League, and JT was there in St. Louis when Joe made his Major League debut. I picked up a few cards of Joe to represent him in my collection, including this TriStar autographed card.
