Favorite Player: Luke Scott

Luke Scott is a native of DeLeon Springs, FL, which is just outside of DeLand (where I live). He was a great power hitter, and I think he could still play, but I am fairly certain he was blackballed from playing in the Majors due to remarks made against the President of the United States somewhere between 2008 and when he last played in the Majors.

Jonathan Schoop was part of the 2017 WBC team for the Netherlands, and a pretty decent power hitter for a 2nd baseman.

Favorite Player: Max Scherzer

At first, when Max Scherzer got traded to the Tigers before the 2010 season, I wasn't really stoked. I hated to see Curtis Granderson go, and didn't think Austin Jackson would do much. I loved to see Phil Coke pitch the previous season for the Yankees, because it always seemed like he was giving up runs for them, and I didn't want to see him do that for the Tigers. Scherzer was young, and I really didn't imagine him doing that much for Detroit.
I decided to get some cards of Scherzer anyways, to try to get signed in Spring Training of 2010, and ended up getting a few rookies for cheap. Fast forward 8 years later, and he is coming off of his 3rd Cy Young Award, pitched 2 no-hitters, struck out 20 batters in a game, and pitched in the 2012 World Series. He has 2,149 strikeouts going into his 11th season, and if he keeps it up, he could see Cooperstown calling in 10-15 years. Shortly after seeing Scherzer strike out 14 hitters in 5.2 innings in 2010, I started collecting Max.

Favorite Player: Tony Saunders

Tony Saunders wasn't always a favorite player of mine. I was a big Atlanta Braves fan in 1997, and I hated that a weaker Florida Marlins team beat them in the NLCS, and hated that Saudners helped them do it. When Saunders was drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays with the first pick of the 1997 Expansion Draft, I started becoming a fan of him.
On April 22, 1999, I was at the Trop, and I watched Tony pitch 6 no-hit innings against his hometown Baltimore Orioles. Mike Bordick got a single to lead off the 7th, but it was the most masterful pitching performance I have ever seen in-person in the Majors (and still is). I saved the ticket stub, and sent it to Tony a few years ago, and he sent it back signed.

Special Note: I just need the 1998 Topps Inaugural Diamondbacks card away from having his 1998 Topps (and Chrome) rainbow.

Favorite Player: Victor Santos

Victor Santos is another member of the 1996 Lakeland Tigers team who made the Majors. I've seen him pitch during that '96 season, but never got an autograph of him. I don't know if there are many out there, but I hope to add one to finish off my Santos collection.

Favorite Player: Jerry Sands

I first pulled a card of Jerry Sands out of a 2011 Topps pack. I was impressed at his power numbers (35 Home Runs in 2010), so I added him to my Favorite Player Collection, thinking he would be a force in the Majors. As of 2017, he only has 10 Homers in the Majors, but you never know, he could break out.

Favorite Player: Chris Sale

Chris Sale was born in Lakeland, Florida, and went to high school at Lakeland High School, which is where I did. He graduated 6 years after I did. I had a friend named Pamela who knew him from school and was really excited when he was about to get drafted. Aparently, from records on SportsCollectors.net, his parents house was about 5 minutes away from my old one, and I've probably driven past it once or twice.
